7 Pounds is a heart-wrenching drama film released in 2008, directed by Gabriele Muccino and starring Will Smith, Rosario Dawson, and Woody Harrelson. The film follows the story of Ben Thomas (played by Smith), an IRS agent who embarks on a journey to atone for his past mistakes by helping seven strangers.
The film begins with Ben attempting suicide, but being interrupted by a call from his brother. This event serves as a catalyst for Ben's journey of redemption, as he sets out to make amends for the mistakes he has made in his life. As he travels, he meets several people who are in need of help, including a blind man, a woman with a heart condition, and a man who is struggling to care for his family.
One of the most poignant aspects of 7 Pounds is the way it explores the theme of redemption. Ben's journey to help these seven strangers is a way for him to atone for his own mistakes and find meaning in his life. The film does an excellent job of portraying the struggles that each of these characters face, and the impact that Ben's help has on their lives.
Another strong point of the film is the acting. Will Smith delivers a powerful performance as Ben, conveying a range of emotions as he struggles with guilt and the desire to make amends. Rosario Dawson and Woody Harrelson also give standout performances as two of the strangers that Ben helps.
Overall, 7 Pounds is a poignant and emotionally powerful film that explores themes of redemption and the impact that one person can have on the lives of others. It is a must-see for fans of drama films and those looking for a thought-provoking and moving cinematic experience.

He looks like he's lost weight and is sick. It is an award-worthy performance and I only wish Smith would do more dramas like this instead of his blockbuster action summer tentpoles, because, while they are fun, this guy is too good for them. It's a Shakespeare tragedy in today's society. Dawson looks perhaps too radiant for a heart patient, but she certainly socks across the welter of conflicting emotions of a woman dying long before her time. The story was upheld by outstanding performances by Will Smith, Rosario Dawson and Barry Pepper.
I spend precious time with my family and tell them how much I love them. Have I made enough sacrifice? It deserves a top rating for the story concept alone. There are also some moral and theological problems. Having stolen his brother's credentials, and making himself known by his brother's name Ben, he checks out candidates for his two final donations. This is a two-hour film and not the typical action-packed macho Will Smith film. We follow him on his mission to seek out seven strangers in desperate need of help.
Not everyone, however, will have the patience to stick with the film for that long to learn the answer to its riddle. What this bluray lacks in 3D pop, it definitely makes up for in it's color scheme. I must admit that the idea of him playing another heartbroken, distanced from the world individual Hancock, I am Legend made me a little annoyed, but this one was a home run. However, if you cry while watching such movies, then take some tissues with you. I love this film and I always cry audibly at the end, at the moment Emily meets Ezra.
I'm so glad I found this one and very highly recommend it! I remain optimistic and continue to hope and pray. Miraculously for once, even the trailers don't give anything away. . A film that will make me want to see it through to the end, not because I paid hard earned cash, but because I truly care about the characters and where they're going to end up. Do you feel it is important to pay restitution for mistakes or injuries caused to others? Whatever secret Ben harbors, it clearly has devastated his soul and he brings this devastation into every personal encounter. Even though you figure out what Will Smith's character is doing, that secret mission he is trying to complete, it is the way in which he fulfills his penance that shines bright and leaves you with a tear-filled smile at the end. At every step, though, you see the suffering in his eyes, the pain eating away at his soul, taking each step towards his fate, one as a saint of redemption, not only for those he wants to help, but for himself as well.
Did we mention that a jellyfish also plays an important part in the story? But once the awkward courtship is consummated, smacko comes the twist ending, rushing back to the forefront like an ill wind. . He begins to fall in love with her and decides that as her condition has worsened he needs to make his donation. Self-serving from the start and in the end although trying to deceive himself and others in the drama as well as viewers, that somehow he is a sacrificial hero, a god-figure, yet somehow really just a mentally depraved and twisted, very depressed person without courage to forgive himself and live out his life like the rest of us are supposed to do and do so with real courage, even if we accomplish nothing other than show the strength and endurance to keep going until God chooses. Why is this man doing this, and where is he coming from? The rest of the cast were very good as well. Just pay attention to that very first scene, which is more straightforward than you might expect. The less you know the better.
She takes her two children and moves in to their new home. Of course, this movie is not based on God even though it steals God's thunder, so to speak, and tries to mimic some sort of Christ figure in the character Will Smith plays. It was touching on so many levels. The last 20-25 minutes is when you find out, and it's a shocker. Ben's intricate plan, however, hits a hitch no Will Smith movie pun intended when he begins to fall for Emily. Yet, for some inexplicable reason, I liked it. He then contacts Emily Posa, a self-employed greeting card printer who has a heart condition and a rare blood type.
But nevertheless it's still a good movie. It's a meditation, more than anything. And treasure it, and maybe it will bring something to your life, as it has to mine. This is the first time I have ever posted. Ben is trying to find out if the people are good or bad, to justify whether he should give them a break or not.
. Almost a complete portrayal of life itself, At first you find yourself confused and a bit lost, but things start making sense and by the end you put the pieces together and see the beauty and wonder reveal itself. The man better win an Oscar before he is done or it will be a travestyat least in my mind. Seven Pounds is all about the relationships between Ben and these people, especially Emily. This film here grabbed me from the start and will stay with me for weeks. The rest of the cast is stellar across the board.
