Part of being Jewish in Poland was learning to live with anti-Semitism. Appleman-Jurman began by speaking in schools and synagogues and with youth groups, but eventually the children who heard her story asked her to write it down so that their parents could also hear her story. We had a handsome young rabbi with a beautiful wife, and both were accomplished violinists.
