Constantine the Great was determined to unite his subjects under one religion, so he reformatted the Bible in 325 A. Langdon and Sophie arrive shortly to encounter the teacher who finally reveals himself at last, and to their greatest surprise, Teabing is the Teacher, the master manipulator who directed the killing of the Priory brotherhood and sent Silas on his quest to recover the keystone. Sauniere apparently felt danger, if he wanted to entrust the secret to her granddaughter and to him. Deception Point The teacher calls Silas and instructs Remy to deliver the cryptex to him, after which he kills Remy and takes the cryptex. Upon reflection and learning from Sophie about the rite, which she saw as a child, Langdon comes to a conclusion that Sauniere was one of the members of society who are entrusted with a secret, and the given cryptex contains the information of where the Holy Grail is. Sophie reports to the police about the abduction of Teabing. Sophie and Langdon escape, leaving Berne alone in the forest.
Rémy intervenes, taking Teabing hostage and thus forcing Langdon to give up the cryptex. Teabing shows them the hidden symbols in The Last Supper and the painted representation of the Magdalene. In the darkness, beside the corpse purple letters and numbers were visible. Langdon tricks Vernet and disarms him and he and Sophie escape with the cryptex in their hands. Fache takes Langdon to Saunière's body, making him crawl under a steel grate to access it.
