Nora Helmer embodies the need for evolution in regards to women and their roles within the family. It was more beautiful than a real house. They didn't look as though they belonged. Still, Else Kelvey is deeply moved by seeing the doll's house and in particular by her glimpse of the little lamp, which can be said to symbolise the warmth of human kindness. Even the teacher had a special voice for them, and a special smile for the other children when Lil Kelvey came up to her desk with a bunch of dreadfully common-looking flowers.
