Panganoron was a brave warrior who had won the heart of Daragang Magayon with his strength and courage.
According to the legend, Daragang Magayon and Panganoron were deeply in love and wanted to be together forever. However, their love was forbidden by Daragang Magayon's father, who had promised her hand in marriage to another tribal chief.
Despite the prohibition, Daragang Magayon and Panganoron decided to run away together and elope. As they fled, they were pursued by the angry chieftain and his men. In an effort to escape, Panganoron carried Daragang Magayon on his back and climbed to the top of Mayon Volcano, hoping to find safety there.
As they reached the summit, Panganoron was overcome with exhaustion and collapsed. Daragang Magayon, heartbroken at the thought of losing her beloved, begged the gods to spare his life. The gods, moved by her love and devotion, transformed Panganoron into the mountain itself, while Daragang Magayon was transformed into the beautiful landscape surrounding the mountain.
To this day, Mayon Volcano is said to be the embodiment of Panganoron, with Daragang Magayon's beauty reflected in its perfectly symmetrical shape and lush vegetation. The legend of Mayon Volcano serves as a reminder of the enduring power of love and the sacrifices we make for those we hold dear.
