Already, at the end of The Runaway Jury, Grisham was displaying his fascination with the techniques of moving huge sums rapidly around the world, and here it becomes a key plot device. I didn't realize this was background for a series of books about this attorney, Sebastian Rudd. The first novel set in Clanton was Other stories set there include A Painted House is set in and around the town of Black Oak, Arkansas, where Grisham spent some of his childhood. After Patrick s disappearance Sandy was very supportive and even helped to his wife to rehabilitate. No exceptions unless on was planned.

He and his son are living on someone's back porch. Why did I decide to read this book? In Grisham's world money rules, and it is a sign of weakness to ignore its power. Whereas Patrick, who is now a criminal for stealing the money is still regarded as a positive figure. At least it was the correct length. Grisham makes his mark with this wonderful short story, riding the coat tails of hi popular novel, Rogue Lawyer.

First, I couldn t help but compare this book with John Grisham s previous novels. I truly enjoyed reading this book. Will Patrick escape trial for the murder of whoever it was that died in that accident? Sebastian Rudd, rogue lawyer, defends people other lawyers won't go near. Through out the book we read about the characters and experience their behavior and deeds to determine who is really good and who is automatically bad. John Grisham is the author of forty-seven consecutive 1 bestsellers, which have been translated into nearly fifty languages. John Grisham has an ability to capture the reader into a net full of mysteries, which always keep me on edge.

Although this is described as a prequel, I actually read this after reading Rogue Lawyer and I found that I appreciated this story so much more knowing what was going to happen afterwards and knowing the characters from Rogue Lawyer. Retrieved July 16, 2012. However, one night while walking through the projects, he is chastised by a cop, who draws his weapon and begins shooting. So now I need to get the main novel in this series. It is money that drove a crooked defense contractor to try to pry loose a huge sum from Washington, and got Patrick's greedy law firm involved in the first place.
