The Tale of Despereaux is a children's fantasy novel written by Kate DiCamillo. It tells the story of a small mouse named Despereaux Tilling, who is born into a family of mice living in the castle of the kingdom of Dor. Despereaux is different from other mice in that he is not afraid of humans and he has a love for books and stories.
One day, while exploring the castle library, Despereaux comes across a human princess named Pea, who is locked away in a tower by her cruel father, the King.
