Waiting until the next year can be a difficult thing to do, especially if we are facing challenges or setbacks in the present. It can be tempting to want to give up or to try to rush things, but sometimes the best course of action is to simply wait until the next year.

There are a few different reasons why waiting until the next year might be the best course of action. First and foremost, it can give us time to regroup and plan. If we have experienced setbacks or failures, taking a break and starting fresh in the new year can help us approach things with a clear mind and a new perspective. It can also give us time to gather resources or to seek out additional support or guidance.

Another reason to wait until the next year is that it allows us to set new goals and to start fresh. The beginning of a new year is a natural time to reflect on the past and to set new goals for the future. It can be a time to let go of any lingering regrets or to make a plan for how to move forward.

Waiting until the next year can also give us the opportunity to celebrate our accomplishments and to look back on the progress we have made. It can be easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind and to lose sight of the bigger picture, but taking the time to reflect on our journey can help us stay motivated and focused on the things that matter most to us.

Of course, waiting until the next year is not always easy. It can be difficult to be patient, especially when we are facing challenges or when we are feeling overwhelmed. But it is important to remember that good things often take time, and that sometimes the best course of action is simply to wait and to trust that things will work out in the end.

In conclusion, waiting until the next year can be a difficult thing to do, but it can also be a wise and rewarding choice. It can give us time to regroup, to set new goals, and to celebrate our accomplishments. So if you are facing challenges or setbacks, don't give up! Take a deep breath, and remember that sometimes the best course of action is simply to wait till next year.

And because I love reading about the lives of other people, memoirs almost always hold my interest. Heck, the book has time for everything - Goldman even goes to a Columbia football game and watches them lose for the umpteenth time. Longtime neighbors move, the Dodgers and the Giants leave New York, and, most important, Doris's mother passes away. If the 1951 season ended in the worst way possible, the 1955 season was the best, as the Dodgers finally won their first World Series championship by beating the mighty Yankees.

Through good times and bad, the Kearns family were Dodger fans through and through. I'm curious to know what it was about her childhood or family life or life experience that shaped her thinking and writing. Goodwin is a well-known historian and was also a sports writer when it was not filled with many opportunities for women. Games played outside, corner stores, a place where you knew everyone and everyone knew who you were, where you belonged. I know it's said like that in speaking, but reading it bothered me. Goodwin's depiction of her childhood obsessions and neurosis is amusing, and she creates an evocative portrait of a lost time.
