At the dance a drunk Act 2 El Pachuco introduces the second act, which opens in San Quentin State Prison. However, they find themselves at odds when Henry says he wants to drop out of the appeal. The sight of this violence sends Henry into a tailspin, and the scene ends with him collapsing to his knees at the center of the stage.
